The Huawei Mate X3 should be arriving soon to take on the Z Fold 4

If you're keen on foldable phones but aren't fully convinced by the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 , then there should soon be another of these innovative devices available to buy: the Huawei Mate X3 is apparently now ready for mass production and should show up soon. That's according to tipster Wangzai Knows Everything (via Notebookcheck ), and the word is that it will follow the design aesthetic laid down by Samsung quite closely – as well as potentially cost significantly less than its rival. There may be some compromises along the way, with rumors that the handset will have to make do with 4G rather than 5G. It should come running the latest high-end Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor though. What we know so far We don't actually know much at all about what the Huawei Mate X3 is going to bring with it, though some clues might be offered up by what we've previously seen on the Huawei Mate X2 , which made its debut in February 2021. That's nearly two years ...

Intel’s faster Raptor Lake flagship CPU spotted at retailer – and it looks pricey

Intel’s incoming Core i9-13900KS, which will be a new version of the Raptor Lake flagship CPU – one capable of boost to 6GHz right out of the box , no overclocking needed – could be over 20% more expensive than the current 13900K. As VideoCardz highlighted, this is going by a tweet from hardware leaker @momomo_us who picked up on the 13900KS – and other inbound Raptor Lake processors – being listed at retailer PC Canada (keep your skeptical head firmly on, naturally). 🤔 https://t.co/iglVxe5zQm pic.twitter.com/wjZofzLaF7 November 26, 2022 See more The 13900KS is priced at $927 Canadian Dollars, and comparing that to the price of the existing 13900K at the same retailer, that’s a 22% markup. A bunch of other Raptor Lake processors are listed and priced here, models which have already been leaked previously ( by Microsoft in fact ). They include the Core i3-13100 at the other end of the spectrum from the 13900KS, a quad-core processor marked up at $207 Canadian Dollars (or ...

Is it me or is $99 for a 1TB micro SD card an insanely good deal?

Image
Cyber Monday is not always about the big-ticket items. You know what I mean: that 65-inch 4K TV for $499 , that King-sized mattress for $870 , or that Air Fryer for $54.99 . Sometimes, it's about the little stuff.  I mean really little stuff, like a 1TB SD card that can fit on the tip of one finger. Currently, I'm way too excited about a Cyber Monday deal on one of these cards: just $99 for storage that once filled four heavy 256GB spinning hard drives, which, when stacked, were as tall as half a loaf of bread. The specific Cyber Monday deal (really a Cyber Weekend deal, amirite?) I'm talking about a $99 SanDisk Ultra microSD 1TB card (originally $136.99). This is not SansDisk's fastest solid-stage storage option. In another stellar Cyber Monday deal, I could pay $117 for the "Extreme" version. That's nice, but I don't need that level of read-write times (190mb/ps vs 150mb/ps), and I'm really into the idea of 1TB for under $100. SanD...

The iPhone 15 Pro could get solid-state volume and power buttons

The iPhone 15 is still a long way off, but we've already heard numerous rumors about it. New to the pile is an analyst prediction that the Pro models are going to get solid-state, haptic buttons that don't physically move and sit flush with the body of the phones. That's as per Barclays analysts Blayne Curtis and Tom O'Malley, based in part on comments made by Cirrus Logic CEO John Forsyth (via MacRumors ). Cirrus Logic already supplies some of the haptic technology that is in the current iPhones. The company has mentioned new components coming to market in the second half of next year, which coincidentally is when Apple is going to be bringing out new iPhones, and... well, you can see why people are joining the dots. Click or twist These buttons use vibrations to simulate the sensation of them being touched, even though they don't actually move – see also the trackpads on newer MacBook models, and the home buttons on the recent iPhone SE phones. This backs ...

Windows 11 gaming bug has been cured – but not for everyone

Windows 11’s latest version has suffered at the hands of a bug that messes quite badly with gaming performance for some users, leading to the 22H2 update being blocked on those PCs to prevent the problem manifesting – but the good news is that upgrade block has now been partially lifted. In case you missed this one, the Windows 11 22H2 bug in question caused “lower than expected performance” with some games (and indeed other software), including stuttering frame rates (a seriously off-putting phenomenon). This was due to GPU debugging features errantly being used on the affected PCs. As Neowin noticed, Microsoft has not actually fixed this issue – yet – but has added a fresh note to its release health dashboard which states the following: “The safeguard hold with the safeguard ID of 41990091 has been updated to only safeguard Windows devices which have one of the small subset of games and apps which are still affected by this issue.” What this means is that a lot of Windows 11 ...
