Quordle today - hints and answers for Friday June 30 (game #522)

Image
It's time for your daily dose of Quordle hints, plus the answers for both the main game and the Daily Sequence spin off.  Quordle is the only one of the many Wordle clones that I'm still playing now, around 18 months after the daily-word-game craze hit the internet, and with good reason: it's good fun, but also difficult. What's more, its makers (now the online dictionary Merriam-Webster) are also keeping it fresh in the form of a new variant called the Daily Sequence, which sees you complete four puzzles consecutively, rather than concurrently.  But Quordle is tough, so if you already find yourself searching for Wordle hints , you'll probably need some for this game too.  I'm a Quordle and Wordle fanatic who's been playing since December 2021, so I can definitely help you solve Quordle today and improve your game for tomorrow. Read on for my Quordle hints to game #522 and the answers to the main game and Daily Sequence.  SPOILER WARNING: Information

Sony just gave the worlds best vlogging camera two big free upgrades

Image
In our full Sony ZV-E1 review , we described the flagship full-frame mirrorless model as ‘the most capable vlogging camera’ available and it’s in our best vlogging camera guide. Now, via a free upgrade, it just got even better.  Sony has rolled out a significant upgrade – it’s not a firmware update but an upgrade license – that simply adds 4K / 120 video (Long GOP compression), and 1080 / 240 video to the camera's S&Q (slow motion / quick motion) mode.  The 1080 / 240 addition is a 10x slow motion video effect and will provide greater versatility in post for creative speed ramping effects, and slowing down fast-paced action where it's otherwise hard to take in the details.  The ZV-E1 was already the most powerful vlogging camera available that is a trailblazer in how AI is transforming how our cameras work , with auto-tracking features that make life easier for modest film crews.  It is also the cheapest way to get the stellar 4K sensor that is found in the significan

New Safari 17 preview lets you try out the browser before it hits macOS Sonoma

Apple is giving more people the opportunity to try out Safari 17 before it launches on macOS Sonoma as it has recently released Safari Technology Preview 173. Up to this point, the only way people could use the revamped Safari was to install the Sonoma beta onto their Mac. With this preview, Ventura users can now see what all the fuss is about without having to commit to downloading the beta. There are, however, restrictions. Safari 17 on Ventura excludes some of the more impactful changes in the update leaving the browser with mostly developer tools. The preview introduces Live Text support to recognize vertical text in images and videos. A tweaked Responsive Design Mode will further enhance the responsiveness of a webpage. Then there’s the new Feature Flags section offering easier access to experimental features from Apple. It appears Safari 17 on Ventura is not the most recent build of the updated browser, which is one reason why users on that system won’t get all of the bell

Modders have struck again making an Asus ROG Ally with 4TB of storage

Image
The Asus ROG Ally has only been out since earlier this June 2023, and already the modding community has figured out how to install 4TB of M.2 2280 SSD storage. Normally the Asus ROG Ally comes with 512GB of storage, with a 256 GB version coming soon. And as impressive as fitting that much in a small package is, it’s not nearly enough for many modern PC games, with some requiring 100 GB or more. Some Redditors have taken matters into their own hands and decided to figure out how to fit in even more storage. Image 1 of 2 (Image credit: Reddit) Image 2 of 2 (Image credit: Reddit) According to these intrepid modders, and reported by VideoGameZ , the ROG Ally can in fact fit a standard M.2 2280 storage but you need to remove part of the chassis to do so. As you may have guessed, this is an irreversible change that will definitely void your warranty, something important to consider since currently every single one of these portables is covered by it. But if you d

Salesforce: Its time to train workers in how to use AI

A growing number of workers are using AI in their daily working lives , but many say they still aren’t entirely comfortable with how best to use the technology, new research suggests. A report from CRM software giant Salesforce has found nearly two-thirds of employees in the UK don’t believe they have the skills to use AI accurately or safely. This is despite over a third (38%) saying that they are either already using, or plan to start using generative AI in their jobs. A large majority are aware, though, of the potentially serious issues involved with it. AI training The issues they cite include bias (named by 58%) and inaccuracies (46%) in generative AI outputs, as well as noting that a lack of human contextual knowledge (70%) and human creativity (66%) demonstrate the need for human input and control. To help address these issues, Salesforce recently unveiled its AI Cloud offering earlier this month, and CEO Marc Benioff stated this would provide, “the fastest and easiest w

These 'air conduction' earbuds let you hear the music and the world around you

Audio brand Shokz is best known for its bone-conduction headphones but for its new OpenFit wireless earbuds, the company is doing something different: air conduction. One of the problems with bone-conduction headphones is the audio they output isn’t as good quality as a traditional pair of headphones. The sound reproduction isn’t quite the same. Seemingly because of this discrepancy, Shokz is equipping the OpenFit with DirectPitch, a feature that will gauge both the “distance and angle between” the earbuds and a person’s ear in order to deliver high-quality audio. It's the air being vibrated; not the inner ear. The company claims the tech introduces a sound “that perfectly balances bold highs, clear mids, and [a] surging bass". Additionally, Shokz is throwing in some of its proprietary tech to improve the output even more. You have the OpenBass algorithm to direct “low-frequency vibrations” into the ear canal for better bass, and Dynamic Range Control for automatically ad

McAfee Dell team up to help keep your SMB safe

Top antivirus vendor McAfee has created a new all-in-one security solution for small business customers working with Dell. The new suite, called McAfee Business Protection, protects from various threats, and combines a firewall, dark web data monitoring, VPN , web browsing protection, identity protection and other security features. McAfee claims the new product helps to protect firms from malware and viruses, as well as being easy to use. Custom policies can also be created, allowing for automated rules to be set up to deal with threats the way you want, without taking up the time of IT teams.  Protection and support for Dell customers According to its own survey, McAfee found that most small business owners manage their security protections themselves. However, due to their limited time, they spend less than an hour a week managing them, which is concerning; McAfee also cites research showing that small businesses are a prime target for cybercriminals. read more > Th

OnePlus Nord 3 OnePlus Nord CE 3 Specifications Tipped Ahead of India Launch

An enormous-looking RTX 4090 Ti has resurfaced but do we even need it?

Image
We may have our first look at the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 Ti’s heatsink and shroud, thanks to a couple of leaked images. And it is massive. The two leaked images of the possible graphics card showcase just how large it, as well as its impressive quad-slot cooler, could be. The possible existence of the Nvidia RTX 4090 Ti has been a subject of debate since 2022. But these images, provided by Twitter user VallahExperte and claimed to be from the second-hand market website for PC hardware Goofish, is yet another piece of evidence that it is coming. Image 1 of 2 (Image credit: ExperteVallah) Image 2 of 2 (Image credit: ExperteVallah) The second image especially gives us a shot of the card and cooler next to the RTX 4090 Founders Edition, which looks positively svelte compared to the 4090 Ti. According to PCGamesN , this matches previously leaked photos, “both featuring the card’s distinctive PCIe power positioning.” However, what we’re actually seeing could be

Nothing Phone 2 will let you remix glyph ringtones like a Swedish DJ

Image
We are close to the launch of the Nothing Phone 2 , and the company says we will see the sequel to its original artsy bargain phone on July 11, 2023. Until then, even Nothing Phone 1 owners have something to look forward to when the new phone launches, thanks to reunited Swedish DJ supergroup Swedish House Mafia. For its most recent device tease, Nothing has teamed with the DJs to showcase new ringtone and light pattern possibilities. (Image credit: Nothing) In a tweet to followers, DJ Sebastian Ingrosso, one third of the DJ team-up, posted a video showing how his sounds and effects will be used on a new Glyph Composer tool. Glyphs are what Nothing calls the unique pattern of LED lights on the back of the Nothing (1) phone, and this confirms that the Nothing (2) will have a similar pattern, though perhaps not the same. Loving what @nothing has been up - we’ve teamed up with them for the upcoming Phone (2) launching in July! Stay tuned… pic.twitter.com/C6s085qHW8 June 26, 2

Netflix could soon end its Basic plan for new subscribers around the world

Netflix has very quietly killed off its Basic subscription tier in Canada, effectively removing the cheapest option without ads from the country.  The removal only affects “new or rejoining members" forcing potential customers to choose between spending $5.99 CAD for the Standard with ads plan, $16.49 CAD for Standard, or $20.99 for Premium, according to Netflix’s Help website . The silver lining, if you can call it that, in all this is users already on the Basic plan can remain there until they either change plans or cancel their account. Apparently, the streaming giant ended the tier some time ago; it’s just that no one noticed until recently. The earliest mention we could find comes from a Twitter user who complained about the Basic plan termination back on June 10. Currently, other countries across the globe haven’t seen any changes. The American Netflix Plans and Pricing page , for instance, still has the Basic plan listed at $9.99, so people elsewhere there are safe – a

Google Said to Have Urged Supreme Court to Quash Android Antitrust Directives

Google has urged India's Supreme Court to quash antitrust directives against it for abuse of the Android market, two sources said, as its presses its legal battle against the competition watchdog in one of its most important markets. The Competition Commission of India (CCI) said in October that Google had exploited its dominant position. from Gadgets 360 https://ift.tt/QATXtfr

Diablo 4 and other Blizzard games DDoS attacks "have ended" says Blizzard

Blizzard has confirmed that the DDoS attacks that have plagued its games, including Diablo 4, for most of the weekend are now over. Earlier today, Blizzard confirmed that it was "currently investigating an issue affecting our authentication servers, which may result in failed or slow login attempts", whilst players took to social media to share screenshots of notifications that had popped up on Battle.net, explicitly confirming that it was a "DDoS attack" that was resulting "in high latency and disconnections for some players".  After promising that the team was "actively working to mitigate this issue", the account later posted an update: "We continue to actively monitor an ongoing DDOS attack which is affecting latency/connections to our games". No estimated date or time for a resolution was provided at that time. Fast-forward to this evening, however, and it seems the issue has now been resolved.  "The DDOS attacks that we

The Google Pixel 8 may copy a key feature from the Samsung Galaxy S23

We think that the Google Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro are going to show up around October time, and the latest rumor suggests they'll come equipped with a useful productivity feature – one that flagship Samsung Galaxy phones already offer. A source speaking to Android Authority says that the Pixel 8 phones are going to offer USB DisplayPort alternate mode. That means that the USB-C port at the bottom could be used to output video to a monitor, as well as for charging and data transfer. So what would that functionality be used for? One possibility is that you'd be able to get the Pixel 8 interface up on a big screen and use it a bit like a desktop computer – and code to support this has already been spotted in Android 13 and Android 14 . It's something you can already do on phones like the Samsung Galaxy S23 : it's a feature called Samsung DeX, and it means you're able to control the handset on a monitor, with a keyboard and mouse attached. Pocket PC While it'

5 upcoming foldable phones you could wait for instead of buying the Pixel Fold

Image
This could be the biggest and busiest year for foldable phones yet, because we’ve already seen multiple foldable handsets launch this year, including the Oppo Find N2 Flip and the Google Pixel Fold , and there are quite a few more still to come. These includes new models in established lines as well as brand-new entrants to the foldable phone arena. We’ve already seen one of the latter of those in the form of the Pixel Fold, and with its striking, slim design and promising cameras it’s arguably the most high-profile foldable phone of the year so far. But before you run out and buy the Google Pixel Fold, it’s worth being aware of what it will soon be up against. So below, we’ve detailed five more foldable phones that we expect to see before the end of 2023. 1. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 A leaked image of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 (Image credit: @OnLeaks / @SmartPrix) The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 is a foldable phone that probably needs no introduction, as it’s the next

Mortal Kombat 1 stress test code sells for over $800

Mortal Kombat 1's stress test is currently underway, and players unable to secure a code are trying to get one via other means, with some paying hundreds of dollars to buy a code on eBay. Earlier today, Mortal Kombat 1 stress test codes started popping up on online auction sites, and whilst it seems some players were simply trying their luck to make a little cash, codes are now up for sale for hundreds and hundreds of dollars… even though the codes are only good for the current stress test that kicked off yesterday. Take this one , for example. Earlier today, it had clocked up an impressive $230 from 19 different bidders, but it eventually secured a winning bid of a truly eye-watering $810. And then there's the since-deleted auction below, although it's unclear if the code was sold or the auction was removed by eBay itself. This is hilarious 😂 from r/MortalKombat Perhaps unsurprisingly, other code owners are also trying to sell their codes, too, even though the test

Escape from Tarkov vows to ban dataminers and anyone else who shares "datamined information"

Escape from Tarkov is cracking down not only on dataminers, but also any "personalities" – which likely means community users and content creators – who publicize them. Developer Battlestate Games posted an "official statement" to its social media channels just ahead of the weekend, confirming it will "start taking action towards" anyone who datamines or shares datamined information from here on in, including bans and "platforms getting involved".  "Throughout the past few years, there was an increase of datamined information circling around various websites as well as accounts on social media," the team explains in the lengthy statement. "While some players believe that the developers of Escape from Tarkov are not sharing information about hidden changes of the game, we also would like to remind that any data retrieval without official permission is a direct breach of [...] the license agreement. "We also would like to br

Here's why the iPhone 16 could be cheaper than the iPhone 15

We're counting down the weeks and months until the iPhone 15 makes its debut with a high level of anticipation, but we're not going to ignore any iPhone 16 rumors and leaks that come our way – especially when they involve a potential price drop. This tip comes from Chinese social media site Weibo (via MacRumors ), from someone who claims to have decades of experience in the electronics industry. Tips from the same source have checked out in the past, but as always with leaks, don't take this information as being accurate or guaranteed just yet. The source says that Apple is planning to switch the process it uses to manufacture its A17 Bionic chipsets at some point next year, in order to save costs. That chipset hasn't yet been announced, but is expected to power the iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 15 Pro Max this year, and the iPhone 16 and the iPhone 16 Plus next year. In other words, Apple could be saving itself a chunk of money by changing the way it makes these

Microsoft Edge gets a nifty new feature to swiftly clear browsing data

Microsoft has brought in a new piece of functionality for Edge allowing users to easily clear the browser’s cache and history, but it’s only in testing right now. As spotted by Leopeva64 on Twitter, Microsoft made the change with the Canary (earliest test) version of Edge, introducing a trash can icon that allows for clearing browser data with a single click. There's a new button in Edge's History hub to quickly open the "Clear browsing data" dialog (Canary):https://ift.tt/G6cuTP2 pic.twitter.com/PUVPw4cVhj June 23, 2023 See more The icon is in the History hub, and it takes you straight to the clear data panel, where you can then click ‘Clear Now’ to remove whatever you have selected (cache, browsing history or download history, or cookies). Technically, then, it’s a two-click process (assuming you’re clearing everything), but still, the shortcut to get to the panel is a handy touch. Analysis: Full steam ahead with interface changes Microsoft made anot
