Amazon will kick off Black Friday early with its Prime Early Access sale

Image
Shoppers, get ready for another sales event. Amazon has just announced the Prime Early Access Sale following months of rumors and last week's leak . The retailer has confirmed in a press release that the two-day sale will take place on October 11 - 12 and - much like its Prime Day summer bonanza - will feature a range of deals exclusively for Amazon Prime members. Amazon is pitching the Prime Early Access Sale as its introduction to the holiday shopping season with hundreds of thousands of deals set to go live over 48 hours. Taking place six weeks before Black Friday 2022 , too, it's an opportunity to spread out your seasonal spending during times of high inflation and the ongoing credit crunch. Brands set to feature include Shark, Lego, KitchenAid and Samsung, while Amazon has also promised that there will be up to 80% off select Fire TV smart TVs, as well as additional savings on a range of Alexa-enabled devices. That's mostly in line with what we'd expect from a...

The Pixel Watch is tipped to launch alongside Google Photos watch faces

We've now been given multiple looks at the upcoming Google Pixel Watch , but it's likely that there are still going to be one or two new announcements when the device is finally, fully unveiled – which should be on October 6 . One of those announcements might be around a Google Photos watch face for the Pixel Watch. As spotted by 9to5Google , there's now code hidden in the Google Photos app for Android that hints at support for adding pictures to the screen of a wearable. Multiple images can be selected it seems, though there will be an as-yet-unspecified limit. Presumably, if more than one photo is picked then the watch face will cycle through them, though the details of how this will work aren't yet fully clear. Photos for all There's no indication that this Google Photos watch face will be exclusive to the Pixel Watch: though Google may introduce the feature alongside the Pixel Watch, it's probably going to make its way out to other Wear OS 3 smartwatc...

Nvidia GPU prices tumble with RTX 3070 and RTX 3060 Ti falling fast

Nvidia’s graphics cards have tumbled in price over the last week, and AMD’s GPUs have too (in many cases, anyway). Yes, the great easing of graphics card price tags continues for RTX 3000 and RX 6000 products, and it’s not surprising that Nvidia’s GPUs in particular are dropping, given that the RTX 4000 range was revealed earlier this week. And also, the Ethereum merge happened recently, decreasing demand for graphics cards on the crypto front to boot. As Tom’s Hardware , our sister site which has been keeping regular tabs on GPU pricing, reports, the main drops for Nvidia’s current-gen GPUs were witnessed with the RTX 3090 and – drum roll – the RTX 3060 Ti, both of which fell by 11% at US retailers. Remember, that’s just in a week, so it’s a pretty hefty drop in that short timeframe. The RTX 3070 also dipped by a substantial 7%, and the RTX 3050 by 8%, with most other Nvidia graphics cards seeing decent drops of 2% to 3%. There were a few models that the price didn’t change for,...

I tried earbuds that swap from in-ear to open-ear, but they prove you must specialize

Image
It takes a lot to surprise an audio geek in 2022. However, I was truly stoked to learn about the JBL Tune Flex; an affordable, water-resistant, ANC-toting pair of earbuds that also boasts two different wearing styles – open or closed. Upon receiving a set to try, I also note the translucent case showcasing the battery pack, connections and other glorious innards. I had the black/grey pair to try, but there's a gorgeously retro purple color too. As I said when JBL's transforming product was released, you've never seen earbuds like these and I applaud the ingenuity. Also, little details such as these can add up to great value.  To clarify the proposition: unlike Oladance's admirable fully open design which goes nowhere near the recesses or folds of your ear, JBL's solution includes supplied tips to change the buds from simply resting in the well-like part of your outer ear or concha (in the way Apple's EarPods or AirPods (2019) do), to longer tips which en...
